Sterling Silver and Bronze 1950's Three Pence Coin Pendant Necklace
- Description
Dating back to Great Britain in the 1950s, this three pence coin is set in sterling silver and hangs on a 24-inch, sterling silver diamond cut ball chain. The front of the coin features the bronze, three pence token, bezel set in sterling silver. The back features a number 3.
The threepence coin was initially used in England as part of a series of new values under King Edward VI's superb silver coinage (1547–53). Decimalization forced the withdrawal of the brass threepence coin in 1971, and the decimal new penny took its place.
