Dating back to 306-324 A.D. this ancient roman coin is set in sterling silver and hangs on a 24-inch, sterling silver diamond cut ball chain. The front of the coin features two stars and three pellets are above the she-wolf, which is standing left, head right, and nursing the twins, Romulus and Remus.
The traditional founders of Rome appearing in Roman mythology as the in sons of the priestess Rhea Silvia fathered by the god of war, Mars. Romulus slew Remus over a dispute about which one of the two brothers had the support of the local deities to rule the new city and give it his name. The name they gave the city was Rome. The twins suckling from the she wolf are generally on coins from the Constantine era, circa (306-324 A.D.), as a commemorative issue to presenting the founders of Rome.
